Preventing Pressure Injury Citations
Preventing Pressure Injury Citations
Product Code: 1833W

An in-house acquired or declining pressure injury puts long-term care providers at risk for regulatory citations and litigation. The burden on the provider is to demonstrate that the development or decline of a pressure injury was unavoidable. The interventions that are implemented within the first 24 hours are critical, as well as, on-going interdisciplinary updates to the plan of care. This online workshop will utilize the QAPI approach for implementing or enhancing a pressure injury program to ensure your pressure injury program meets regulatory guidance for F-686, as well as, the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) and Wound Ostomy Continence Nurses Society (WOCN) standards of practice to minimize regulatory and legal risk.

Learning objectives
  • Develop an interdisciplinary team approach and have effective team meetings that include prevention
  • Demonstrate how to effectively utilize the wound care nurse to manage and oversee the program
  • Review common assessment, documentation, and program errors that put long-term care providers at risk for litigation or regulatory citations
